Ice Technologies

Fading of the brake affects braking performance during prolonged continuous operation. Shimano has introduced brake discs and pads with Ice-Tech to create a cooling technology with consistently high braking performance.

The brake disc rotor features a three-layer structure of stainless steel outside around a core of aluminum. It radiates heat better and reduces surface temperature. The brake pads, meanwhile, have aluminum cooling fins that further optimize the radiation properties. The design of the disc in conjunction with the cooling fins results in a longer durability of the pad, less brake noise, less fading and a also reduces the weight.
